The Mocha Desert Rats began in the 1977. The founding members were Hugh Brownlee and Jim Phyne.  At the Spring Ceremonial in 1977, we had our first 2 units in the parade. Later that year Bill Bossons and Glenn Chesney joined the unit.  From there the unit grew to include Ross Hawley, Ed Scruton, Rome Strell, Ken Gilders, Ab Gonder, Hugh Cree, Ted Noseworthy, Jim Carson and Boris Melnyk.

Now we currently have 19 active members.

We participate in 13 - 15 parades a year including the Mocha Spring Ceremonial and a fall competiton with the Great Lakes Shrine Motor Corps (GLASMC)

The money we raise goes to the Shrine Hospitals and helping the children.

We meet on the third Wednesday of every month.
